  2. RULER A METAL RULER is the most important measuring tool. It is usually 12” or 24” long.

  3. SCRIBER • It is a very thin steel tool sharpened to a point. It is used to scratch lines and measurements on metal.

  4. A SCRIBER is considered the “metalworker’s pencil”.

  5. 2 TYPES OF PUNCHERS • 1. PRICK PUNCH- Is used in sheet metal work to locate the center of an arc or hole.

  6. 2. CENTEPUNCH- Is used to mark holes to be drilled.

  7. OUTSIDE CALIPER • Is used to measure the outside dimensions of either flat or round stock.

  8. INSIDE CALIPER • Is used to measure the diameter of holes.

  9. DIVIDER • It is used for inscribing arcs and circles and for transferring measurements directly from the rule.

  10. COMBINATION SQUARE • It has a blade and a head that can slide along this blade to be locked in any position.
