  2. Introduction • Sitting bull was the leader of the tetonsiouxindians. • He was born in the 1830s • Sitting bull learned how to hunt buffalo and fight as a kid

  3. Early life • He was know as a brave , skilled warrior • In 1857 he became the war chief for his tribe • People from the U.S. moved into siouxland • Sitting joined a war party at 14

  4. Life’s work • In 1867 sitting bull became tribe chief • He wanted peace with the settler. • In 1876 Sitting bull’s tribe prepared for the battle of Little Bighorn

  5. Later years • His tribe won the war • They were forced to move • Sitting bull taught people the Indian way of life

  6. Contributions • Sitting bull got shot and died in 1870 at his house • People remember him as a important leader • He helped defend the American Indian culture
