Status • Cloud4All project has launched in Europe • ~$11M in European Commission funds • substantial additional funds from international sources, esp Canada • National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research leading US effort • 2012 budget request of $10m not expected to arrive • NIDRR to commit funds from existing budget for partnership efforts with other federal agencies

Examples of ServicesGPII Could Support inHigher Education • Remember: GPII isn't built yet. • This is a vision of what could be available if needed, wanted, and feasible (including market sustainability) • GPII is a road-building program, not a car-building program. • AT companies, relay service providers, etc., will use GPII to reach consumers Here are examples of ideas for services …

  6. Example #1: Autopersonalization • Student creates online profile specifying AT configuration • Configuration is applied automatically to any machine • Enhanced browser reads profile • automatically tailors rendering of Web pages

Example #2: OnlineCaptions • If the video is not captioned: • Find a captioned version somewhere else • Caption the video in real-time • Caption the video offline and notify the user when the captions are ready • Notify the video producer that captions have been requested • If the video is captioned: • Display the captions according to your preferences, on the device you are using • Correct or comment on the caption • Translate the caption
