Creed The Creed of Alpha Tau Omega To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity; to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world: these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.  Otis Allan Glazebrook 1880

  3. History • Founded in 1865 in Richmond VA at the Virginia Military Institute • Three Founders of ATO • Otis Allen Glazebrook • Earskin Mayo Ross • Alfred Marshal

  4. ATO firsts • First National Fraternity • First Fraternity founded after the civil war • First Fraternity with a chapter both north of the Mason Dixon line and west of the Rocky Mountains • First to start an alcohol and tobacco free chapter.

  5. Facts • ATO was not founded in opposition or imitation to any other Fraternity • ATO ranks in the top ten for the number of chapters and total number of members • ATO is only Greek in name however the fraternity is strictly a Christian based fraternity

  6. Famous ATO’s • Lee Courso • Graduated from Florida State • Announcer for college football • Steve Spurrier • Graduated from University of Florida • College football hall of fame and two time Heisman Trophy winner

  7. Leadership • Attitude • This is open to all active members. • This is a stay in the Rocky Mountains where you will do things such as rock climb and go hiking. • This gives you a great opportunity to meat other brothers and network for future benefit.

  9. Leadership cont. • Leadershape • This is a two week program for ATO undergraduates • This is designed to help you learn leadership skills along with communication and team work ability • The goal is to teach students that integrity is not an option for effective leaders.

  10. Leadership cont. • Emerging leaders Conference • This is set up to target the up and coming leaders of the chapters from all over the country. • This focuses more on younger members such as freshmen or sophmors
