  1. Secret Bunker SHHHHHHHHH! It’s a secret

  2. What is the ‘Secret Bunker?’ The Hack Green ‘secret bunker’ was first used by the military in World War II. The purpose of the secret bunker was to confuse Luftwaffe bombers and direct them away from Crewe railway station as this was the main mode of transportation of food and weapons. A radar for air defense was added when the secret bunker was built to rack the enemies air force.

  4. Where is the secret bunker located? • Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker • French Ln, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 8AP • 01270 629219 • hackgreen.co.uk

  5. What happened next? After the site was modernized in 1950, it was abandoned and neglected for many years until the Home Office took over it. The R6 bunker was rebuilt in the early 80s for regional government headquarters to enable the government to stay protected in the after effects of the nuclear attack on the UK.

  6. Around 1992 when the Cold War ended, the Secret Bunker was abandoned by the Home Office. It was then bought by a private company who refurbished and redecorated the bunker. In 1998 the company then opened the Secret Bunker to the public as a museum with a Cold War theme.

  7. What was the Cold War? The Cold War was a sustained state of political and military tension between the Western and Eastern Bloc. The cold war took place a few years after world war II. It was a war between the United States and the Soviet Union Even though the war was not a direct attack on the United Kingdom, Britain was an ally of the united states and were therefor considered a threat. It was "cold" because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two sides.

  8. Military Uniforms.

  9. Nuclearyweary Because of the causes of the cold war, the united states feared that the results would cause a nuclear war. With this in mind, the US had to think of possible ways to protect their country so that if a nuclear war was to start, they would have the appropriate weapons This meant that the biggest health risk was the effect of nuclear exposure through weapon testing. Nuclear radiation is associated with illnesses such as leukemia, various cancers and cataracts.

  10. Effects of a Nuclear Attack Initial stage—the first 1–9 weeks Intermediate stage—from 10–12 weeks Late period—lasting from 13–20 weeks Delayed period—from 20+ weeks In the first couple of weeks of a nuclear attack, most people can be instantly killed, with most being taken by the initial blast. In the intermediate stage, from 10-12 weeks, deaths mainly occur from ionizing radiation in the median lethal range. After passing the 13 week stage, effects from the nuclear attack start to improve. By the time 20+ weeks come, survivors who were effected are usually struck with one of the effective illnesses.
