  2. About National Ferries Company National Ferries Company was established in 2006. It’s a national significant investment in transport infrastructure & our mission is crystal clear to connect Oman’s coastal towns, contribute to local communities, create new jobs and opportunities for Omanies and boost tourism outcomes for the country. The objectives of the company are:. A) Designing, building, possessing, managing and maintaining different types of ferries and providing the related services including – but not limited to – the necessary facilities for operating the said ferries. B) Work in the field of coastal shipping lines for the transfer of passengers, goods and the delivery of services to citizens. C) To enter into agreements with local & foreign consultancy firms for the establishment of its installations; and to import machinery and equipment associated with the nature of its work.

Associated Companies Following are the companies associated with National Ferries Company: Austal – An Australian based company who had built these 2 high-speed catamaran for National Ferries company. Austal also take care of ttechnical support, servicing, and safety of the ferries. FRS – It is a German based company specialized in ferry operations. FRS is handling operations and providing crew members to National Ferries company. Khimji Ramdas Shipping Division- Khimji’s are taking care of logistics and allied support services needed at the port. They are handling the ground operations for these ferries. Spanco Golden Key Solutions- Spanco GKS is working as an exclusive GSA for National ferries Company. SGKS is operating the call center for NFC and also bookings, reservations, cancellation, exclusive trips and boarding along with sales and marketing of the ferries.

  4. About High Speed Catamaran Ferries The two identical ferries Shinas & Hormuz are the world’s fastest diesel-powered vessels in Oman. As of now, these two ferries are playing a vital role in transport and tourism between Muscat and Khasab. The future destination likely are Halniyat island, Salalah, Masirah island, Shannah and Shinas. These ferries are 65 meter long and can carry 208 passengers, 12 crew and 56 cars. This will improve the transport and movement of people from one Coastal town to another. These ferries have achieved a record service speed of 52 knots during sea trials, making it the fastest diesel-powered vehicle-passenger ferry built for Sultanate of Oman.

  5. About High Speed Catamaran Ferries Shinas and Hormuz are state-of-the-art vessel and has many unique features in terms of performance, riding comfort, and safety. The ferry has a VIP lounge (non-bookable), first class and tourist class lounge. It also features a car deck and helicopter deck. Below is the break up of No of seats available in Ferry. • Tourist Class- 172 Seats. • First Class – 28 Seats. • VIP Class – 8 Seats. • Car Deck – 40 cars, 4 trucks and 1 trailer. Both vessels are powered by four MTU 20 cylinder 1163 series diesel engines each producing 6,500 kW and driving Rolls-Royce / Kamewa waterjets.

  10. About Ferry Trips The two ferries are operating between Muscat and Khasab which is helping in commuting for locals as well as for tourist. It takes six hours to make the point-to-point journey between Muscat and Khasab, a distance of 300 nautical miles where as by land to cover 500km journey from Muscat to Khasab can take from six to nine hours, depending on time spent at four UAE border crossings. These two ferries operate between Muscat and Khasab 4 times a week simultaneously.

  15. Documents Required for MCT-Khasab Trip Documents Required: For all Omani Passengers: All Omani passengers should carry their ID cards in original. For Expatriates (Non-Omani): Resident ID card in Original. Passport in Original. (In Case do not hold a Resident Card) For Visit/Tourist Visa holders Passport in Original. Visa number should be mentioned in case of Visit/Tourist visa holders. In case of no visa number such as the case of GCC residents, please appropriately mention 'GCC’.

Ferry Fare for Khasab Residents • The National Ferries Company (S.A.O.C) is excited to announce 50% reductions • in tourist class tickets for Khasab Residents. • Conditions : • Person should be a resident of Musandam. • Reduction for people working in Khasab (Omani and expatriates) • Reductions are only for Tourist class. • Identity proof and undertaking letter from sponsor required.

  17. Sunset Trip Schedule and Rates On every Thursday, Hormuz will be doing evening trips in the coastlines of Muscat. The payments will be in advance. Bookings will be closed 24 hours before the voyage.

Exclusive Trips on World’s Fastest Ferry • We also do exclusive trips, which will cost OR. 3000 for the first 100 Pax, every extra Pax will be charged OR. 20 each. • Buffet will be served on exclusive trips. • These trips can be arranged on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. • Client can suggest the destination, but NFC reserves the right to take the final decision on the trip.
