Grant Community Communication Status • Maryland Governor's Grants Office Web Session and Training: 175 attendees; with a maximum of 200 slots, over 1,000 viewers attempted to login – December 18th • Grants.gov Grantor User Group Meeting - January 9th • Federal Demonstration Program (FDP) - January 9th • Grants Executive Board Meeting – January 10th

Grant Community Communication Status • National Grants Management Association Presentation - January 11th • Grants.gov Stakeholder Meeting via Webcast - January 17th • Topical technical updates to FAQs posted on Grants.gov website weekly • Scheduled information sessions for system to system users (applicant and grantor) during February and March 2007

Adoption and Utilization in FY 2006 • Of the 26 agencies, 21 reached FY 2006 goal of posting 75% of their application packages for discretionary funding opportunities • 76% of all federal discretionary grants were available for electronic applications through Grants.gov • Applicants submitted over 90,000 applications with a total of 106,205 submissions since initiative began • Over 52,000 Authorized Organization Representatives (AORs) – individuals authorized to submit grant applications for an organization – 18,000 in FY 05

  10. Status of Agency Participation First Quarter FY 07 • Total Submissions for FY07: 31,793 • Opportunities Posted in FY07: 880 • Opportunities currently available for submission: Over 1,100 • 22 out of 26 agencies have opportunities posted for FY 07

  11. Status of Agency Participation First Quarter FY 07 • During the week of November 26th through December 2nd, Grants.gov received 6,403 submissions for the 104 closings scheduled that week • The largest number of submissions to date on one day was 2,099 received on December 1st

  12. Mac Viewer Update • Macintosh Viewer Update - IBM provided the Special Edition Mac Viewer for PPC to the Grants.gov PMO. The viewer was posted to the Grants.gov site on Thursday December 21, 2006. The product is a general release product and is not supported publicly, however, IBM has arranged for a help line for the Grants.gov PMO to address questions. • Grants.gov would like to thank NSF, NIH, FDP, COGR and Mr. Bob Beattie from the University of Michigan for their assistance in testing this product.

  16. What Does NIH Expect for Feb 5 R01 Submissions? • Between 4,500-5,000 unique application submissions in the two weeks around Feb 5 • Approx. 2,500 submissions on peak day based on experience in previous rounds • New daily record expected to be set for both Grants.gov and NIH

NIH Spreading the Word Ensuring applicants are informed of eSubmission requirements through: • FOA language • Application guide • Websites • Listserv • Workshops at NIH Regional Seminars, scientific and administrative meetings • Special edition of NIH Extramural Nexus (Nov. Issue) • Press releases • Targeted e-mails • Training, Etc…

  18. Preparing NIH Help Desk and Support Teams • Enhancing depth and breadth of Help Desk staffing • Additional surge support capabilities in place • “Create your own ticket” option available on web working for faster service http://ithelpdesk.nih.gov/eRA/

On-Time Submission Requirements For NIH • All registrations must be completed prior to initial submission. • Initial submission must have a Grants.gov timestamp on or before 5:00 p.m. local time of submitting organization on the receipt date. • Any corrections needed to address errors/warnings identified by eRA • Commons must be made within fivebusiness day correction window.

  20. Limited Time Only! NIH Correction Window • NIH will allow changed/corrected applications to be submitted to address errors/warnings in the five business days after the receipt date • Initial application submission to Grants.gov must have been made on time • Changes must be made in response to identified errors/warnings • Cover letter required

NIH Application Image Viewing Window • After NIH receives an error-free application an assembled application image is generated and placed in the eRA Commons. • Applicants have two weekdays (including holidays) to view the assembled application before it automatically moves forward to NIH’s Division of Receipt and Referral. • Signing Official (SO) has option to “Reject”. • If “Rejected” after receipt date for any reasonother than system issue, subsequent corrected submission is subject to NIH late policy.
