  8. Organizational Structure: • There is no updated flow chart on file which illustrates the districts organizational structure. • There is a need to reassign some staff to other supervisors . • There is no strategic plan in place for the district. A plan is needed right away.

  9. Instructional Program: • Staff consistently asserts that they have the needed supplies and materials and technology to complete their work. • 2011-12 school data outcomes demonstrate that there are concerns with the overall performance of grade 5-12 students, especially grades 5-8. • The school currently has two school ambassadors and a series of instructional coaches and mentors who provide instructor support for school staff. • School staff is working diligently to learn and teach to Common Core Learning Standards. • The school has constructed and is implementing a new APPR. • 2011-12 NYS Completer Data indicates: 32% of Stockbridge Valley’s graduates went on to a four year college, 54% went on to a 2 year college, 2% went on to post secondary programs, and 12% went on to employment.

  10. Instructional Program: • 2011 data illustrates that only 34% of all students are receiving an advanced designation regent’s diploma. • The schools current classification rate is 12.3 %. This is aligned with similar schools NYS data. • Some special education students are scoring at or above 65% on Regent Exams. • Special Education services generally consist of inclusive educational services in the district. • Students with severe and/or multiple disabilities are generally educated in out-of- district placements. • A review of IEP’s and services needs to be done to ensure that all students a benefiting from their programs and receiving FAPE.

  11. Instructional Program: • The school currently has several AP (2) and College Courses (10) that it is operating. • There is a need for the school to review its course offerings. • The school had a 1-2% drop out rate between the years of 2009-2012. • The school currently has in place a character education program. • There is an active arts ( Visual Arts and Music) and Agricultural instructional program in place at the school • There are concerns about school wide behavior management – discipline of students. • There is currently no unified PBIS program (Positive Behavior Intervention Support Program) in place for the school, -- K-12. • The school has a current DASNY plan in place and provides ongoing bullying programs and supports for students.

  12. Operations & Facilities: • The school facilities are in good shape. • A technology plan is in place for the school. This plan needs to be updated. This is because, it provides information about future technology considerations that should be addressed. • There is a 5 year facilities plan in place for the school. This plan illustrates a series of renovations and/or future capitol projects that have been designated for completion. • A school safety plan and emergency procedures are in place for the school. • The school has a safety committee in place which regularly meets to discuss safety concerns.

  14. Parents & Community • Parents are involved in school activities, -- especially at grades k-5. • There is a school PTSO. More parent participation is desired by members of this organization. • Parents would like to see more support offered to them so that they can assist with educating their children (a Parent University). • Parents would like to continue to have dialogue with the Superintendent and school administration. • Parents would like for the school to update information regularly on the schools webpage. • Stockbridge Valley continues to be the “social hub” of the community. • School stakeholders care about their school. • The business community and elected officials are in strong support of the school.

  15. Preliminary Needs: • A district-wide strategic plan is needed. • An organization chart should be created and organizational structures need to be realigned. • A professional development plan is needed. This plan should in part, focus on the educational needs of grades 5-12. • A plan is needed to encourage students to pursue an advanced regent’s diploma and four year college. • The schools facility and technology plan will also need to be revised. • A PBIS program needs to be implemented across the school to address behavioral concerns right away. • A review of school course offerings should be completed and revisions to course offerings should be considered, -- especially AP or college course offerings. • The school should continue to employ strategies to eliminate its 1-2% drop out rate.
