  2. What will I learn on Getting Started in FM? The package is aimed at people who are new to FM or taking on new responsibilities It gives a practical introduction to 4 essential areas including [1] Knowing your building and the role of the FM [2] Support Services [3] FM projects [4] Health & Safety and Sustainability It will take approximately 4 hours to complete, but there is a wide range of valuable extra material available for optional further study.

  3. The format is highly visual and navigation is made easy through the main menu and on-screen buttons

  4. As you work through each module you can keep track of your progress to ensure you’ve covered each section. You can revisit any area as many times as you wish while your account is live – so you don’t have to complete everything in one go!

  5. Practical activities, tasks and quizzes are included throughout to help apply the learning. The system will keep a record of your previous responses which will automatically appear when you revisit each section. You can record key learning points and ideas in your personal ‘Action Plan’.

  6. You can check your responses against the answers we provide – and also compare what you have said with other recent entries.

  7. I must say your email yesterday came as a considerable shock. I simply can’t believe that the supplier can’t get us the desks any earlier. It’s just not good enough Tasks are designed to be very practical and relevant to everyday situations. The aim is to help apply the learning in a real life context where good management and people skills are essential.

  8. There’s an excellent range of background material in our Resource Centre if you want to find out more about specific areas covered in the modules, plus useful web links and a glossary to explain key technical terms.

  9. The ‘Personal Profile’ feature allows you review summaries of your scores and responses and to change your details on the system. Everyone can download a Personalised Certificate after they have completed this package.

How to register • Getting started in FM is available for individuals and corporate groups on a 90-day licence basis. • The package is priced at £120+VAT for BIFM members or £150+VAT non-members.
