  1. Queen Elizabeth & The Spanish Armada Plymstock School History Department

  2. Queen Elizabeth & the Spanish Armada It is 2 am and you are suddenly awoken from your sleep by a knock on your door. The Queen has sent her guards to bring you to the Palace immediately ………

  3. On your arrival at her chamber, you notice that you are one of seven guests - a place has been reserved for you at her large table. As you sit down you see a number of important documents on the table and wonder what fuss is all about!

  4. You listen eagerly as the Queen informs you that : “the King of Spain’s Navy is abroad and is heading for England!” You know that this is no social visit - the Spanish are determined to topple the Protestant Queen Elizabeth and return England to the Catholic faith. Fortunately as one of the Queens most trusted advisors you have already anticipated a war with Spain and have undertaken your research and planning (please refer to the Word Document you created)

  5. Your Task – Lesson One You will be placed into groups You will choose a chairperson for the lesson who will be responsible for making sure the Action Plan is read, fully completed and organising the criteria for judging the final role play Each member of the group will take on the role of a key advisor at Elizabeth's Court You are to write a script based upon the scene in the first painting debating how England should react to the news of the Spanish Armada. Your second scene will respond to the second image You are to work out the order in which members of the group will speak in the role-play scene you act out By the end of this first lesson you have completed the Action Plan and pass it to your teacher

  6. Your Task – Lesson Two You will be placed into your groups from last lesson You will choose a new chairperson for the lesson who will be responsible for making sure the Action Plan is completed You are to write your script based upon the scene in the painting debating how England should react to the news of the Spanish Armada. Last lesson you were told to make sure you knew which order in which people were speaking, making it easier for people to write their scripts knowing who is before and after them. By the end of this first lesson you have completed the Action Plan and pass it to your teacher
