Eagles of the Northwest Coast. By Josue Blanco 9/14/11. The Valley of the Eagles. The Chilkat Indians were the first to live in the area called the “Valley of the Eagles”. For thousands of years the Chilkat and eagles lived together. Each enjoyed the rich food sources in the area.

  2. The Valley of the Eagles • The Chilkat Indians were the first to live in the area called the “Valley of the Eagles”. For thousands of years the Chilkat and eagles lived together. • Each enjoyed the rich food sources in the area.

  3. Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve • In 1982, the state of Alaska set land to protect the eagles. More bald eagles have come to the Northwest Coast than anywhere else on earth. In 1993, a record number of eagles were seen by a near river- 3,284 to be exact!!

  4. Summary • Eagles still live today. Alaska is protecting them. There are about 35,000 eagles living in Alaska.
