China became successful and powerful at this time through the use of centralized governmental control and a powerful military • This allowed her elite to promote technological innovation, agrarian expansion, and commercial enterprise. • She achieved this despite the continuing pressure/threat posed by nomadic peoples to her north and west.

  3. Assignment • Using a graphic organizer (outline, spider diagram, idea mapping software, whatever) create notes to develop, explain and/or defend one of these claims. • Hint: You will attache supporting evidence to the “big idea will” just as we have before for similar exercises . • Write the essay after you have oranized your information supporting the big idea you have choosen. • The idea mapping is a group activity, the paragraph is an individual assignment. • Due by the end of class tomorrow. Turn in both the essay and the idea map, electronically is preferred.
