  4. Asymptotes Vertical asymptote – vertical line which the graph approaches but never touches (where x is undefined) In rational equations: x = h is the equation for the vertical asymptote

  5. Asymptotes Horizontal asymptote – horizontal line which the graph approaches but never touches In rational equations: y = k is the equation for the horizontal asymptote
