  5. AMELIE Amelie was directed by Jean-Paul Jeunet. It had its first showing on 25th April 2001 and it stars Audrey Tautou. Amelie is a young woman who lives in Paris. One day, she comes across a box full of things which belonged to the previous tenant. Amelie decides to find the man who owns the box and give it back to him. Throughout the film, she spends a lot of time trying to make other people happy but, In the end, she discovers that she has to take care of her own happiness first (which she finds at the side of Nino). The film deals with problems such as loneliness in a city and the conflict between dreams and the real world. it also raises a moral issue: how much we can influence other people's lives. Most importantly, However, it is a film about human kindness and being good to other people. The film is neither a romantic comedy nor a fairy tale. It is a modern story with a happy ending, filmed in strong, warm colours with brilliant music by Yann Tiersen. Although the film has got its critics, I felt that only one or two scenes were weak. All things considered, Amelie is very special film that either touches you deeply or at least makes you think. Because Amelie is not a big Hollywood production, I believe it can speak more intimately to each of us about truth and beauty. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys artistic films.
