  3. Glory Days • Columbus sailed from Cadiz on his Second (1493-95) and Fourth (1502-04) Voyages • Became base for Spanish Treasure Fleet • Raided by Drake, 1587 • Raided by English, ocupied and burned, 1596 • Silting of the Guadalquivir River caused Cadiz to eclipse Seville in the 18th Century
