Guns in the U.S. Privately owned firearms- 270,000,000 (89 guns per 100 people) Number 1 country with the most guns owned by licensed civilians U.S. Military is reported to have 3,054,553 firearms Law Enforcement has 879,400 firearms In 2009 the U.S. exported $689,170,603 worth of guns and ammunition to other countries, mainly for military purposes. U.S. imported $1,585,242,738 worth of guns and ammunition

Gun Related Deaths • Firearm homicides for 2010 (including accidental)- 11,078 -3.6 per 100,000 people • Number 28 in the world for gun related homicides behind #1 Brazil, #2 Colombia, #3 Mexico, and #4 Venezuela (all of which have heavy cartel activity) • Homicide by firearm rate per 100,000 pop. U.S. is ranked #28 • Gang related homicides without the involvement of drugs was about 4000 • Homicides committed by the mentally ill was around 900 • Gun deaths without a known motive were around 200 • How many more of the 11,078 were in self-defense?
