  1. World History ProjectDescribe the Social, Political and Economic of a specific civilization.

What is the goal of this project? • The goal of this project is to help students research and understand a specific time period in world history. • The project consist of three (3) specific topics that each student must research to get credit for the project. The following topics are: • -Social • - Political • - Economic

  3. Requirement for the Project • - Project Proposal Sheet – fill out the sheet for the instructor’s approval. • - One (1) chapter from the textbook. If you do not do the work from the book, you will not get credit for the project. Time Frame for the Project: The instructor will put the due date on the white board. If it’s not done on time, no credit. • Power Point (12-14 slides) Follow all the instructions in the Power Point template.

  4. Step 1: FIND - a specific period of time in world history (example: Roman Empire, Greek civilization, Ancient Egypt). After finding the time period, let the instructor know so it can be approved.

  5. Step 2: Describe the following:- Social (culture-music, art, religion, language)- Political (type of government) - Economic (type of system the civilization used to make money

  6. Social – Describe the culture of the civilization of the selected time period. Write about each topic below:- Music - Art - Religion- Language

  7. Political – Write about the type of government that is used to govern the people. Provide an example of the chain of command (Example of Monarchy: Emperor - dutiesSenate - dutiesArmy Commanders - dutiesSoldiers - duties

  8. Economic – Write about the type of system the civilization/empire use to insure it has the money to acquire their needs to produce their own food and trade with other countries to survive. Provide example of the goods and services they use to make money.

  12. Life in the Roman Republic revolved around the city of Rome, and its famed seven hills. The city also had several theaters. Gymnasiums, and many taverns, baths and brothels. Throughout the territory under Rome's control, residential architecture ranged from very modest houses to country villas, and in the capital city of Rome, to the residences on the elegant Palatine Hill, from which the word "palace" is derived. The vast majority of the population lived in the city center, packed into apartment blocks. Social - The culture of the Roman Republic

  13. MusicAncient Roman music was influenced by Etruscan and Greek music. Later on during the Empire, there were also influences from Gaul, North Africa and Asia Minor. Romans really appreciated music. Music was used on various occasions including entertainment spectacles such as gladiator flights, public events, military parades, or religious events such as weddings, sacrifices or funerals.

  14. Art The most well-known surviving examples of Roman painting are the wall paintings from Pompeii and Herculaneum, that were preserved in the aftermath of the fatal eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE.

  15. Roman Gods: For many hundreds of years, the Romans worshipped thousands of gods. Trees, rocks, streams, bridges, everything in ancient Rome had a guardian spirit or god watching over it. 

  16. Political Structure of the Roman Republic -In Roman society, the aristocrats were known as patricians. The highest positions in the government were held by two consuls, or leaders, who ruled the Roman Republic. A senate composed of patricians elected these consuls. At this time, lower-class citizens, or plebeians, had virtually no say in the government.

  17. Emperor – (Duties, responsibilities, contributions to the empire) Julius Caesar, was a Roman dictator, politician, military general, and historian who played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire.

  20. Economic – Ancient Rome was an agrarian and slave based economy whose main concern was feeding the vast number of citizens and legionaries who populated the Mediterranean region. Agriculture and trade dominated Roman economic fortunes, only supplemented by small scale industrial production.
