  3. STARTING A NEW CLUB • Rotary club sponsor should have an active Rotarian member to be the liaison between the club and the school advisor. The Rotary club liaison should update the club on a regular basis of activities of their Interact club. There should be a line of communication in order to work projects of both the Rotary and Interact club supporting each other. • Get a good School advisor – High school and/or Middle School. Teacher, Counselor, someone in direct contact with student body – someone with energy who can stimulate students.

  4. STARTING A NEW CLUB CONT. Charter application for Rotary International for each club: A) The Rotary club Liaison member should fill out the Interact Club Certification form to give to School advisor. B) The School advisor fills in the names of the student charter members who are between the ages of 13 and 18. Make sure the prospective Interact Club President signs the form.

  5. STARTING A NEW CLUB CONT. C) Have the current Rotary club sponsor President sign the form and forward to the District Governor. D) The current District Governor of the sponsoring Rotary Club signs the form to forward to District Interact Chair to forward to RI. E) Rotary International will send the Charter to the Rotary club President.

  6. CELEBRATION! ENCOURAGE ROTARY CLUB MEMBERS TO: • Present charter to school Principal for safe keeping? • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner? Board of Directors only? Invite all the Interact members? • Invite school sponsor? • Present Interact Board of Directors’ pins? • Present pins to all active Interact members attending?

  7. WORKING TOGETHER!! RI Minimum Requirements For Interact Clubs: 2 meetings per month; 1 international and one community project per year. Coordinate: Schedule of events – Rotary club Schedule of events – Interact club Newsletter – Liaison and School Sponsors Youth Protection Photo permission sheets signed by all parents early in the year have school sponsor keep on record Invitation to Rotary meetings

  10. END OF YEAR EACH INTERACT CLUB SHOULD: • Have election of officers – Board of Directors • Fill in the Incoming interact officer data form with new Interact President name. Located in Handbook. • June 30 deadline to keep club active with Rotary International • Include Number of members • Send form to RI • If you need the form, please contact me.
