  2. EXCEED/RtI In the IMS

  3. Goals of Webinar • Brief overview of EXCEED RTI system • Features and benefits of EXCEED RTI • Availability of features • Roles • Building and district RTI processes • Deployment • Resources

  4. EXCEED RTI in the IMS A component of the IMS that allows educators to create, share, and manage academic and behavioral supports for students in an online environment. It allows educators to identify areas of difficulty for a student or a group of students and set up plans for intervention.

  5. Features of EXCEED • Create and manage intervention plans for individuals students or groups of students • Log and document interventions • Create graphs for progress monitoring individual students • View snapshot of all students’ progress across interventions • RTI meeting reminders, forms, and notices • Graph single measure screening data for a group • Access graphs of students comparing performance on two measures

  6. Create and manage intervention plans for individuals students or groups of students

  7. Log and Document Interventions

  8. Create graphs for progress monitoring individual students

  9. View snapshot of all students’ progress across interventions

  10. RTI meeting reminders, forms, and notices • Problem Solving/RTI Meeting forms • Parent Notification Letters • Student Behavioral Checklists • Family Information forms/checklists • Student Interview

  11. Next Level of Training • Graph single measure screening data for a group • Access graphs of students comparing performance on two measures (VIG) VIG – Visual Instructional Grouping

  12. Why should I use it? • Streamline a paper process for screening, grouping, interventions, progress monitoring graphs, the RTI meeting documentation. • Access vetted intervention plan ideas and RI PBIS/SEL intervention goals and measures. • Keep track of interventions and progress monitoring for students who move from district to district. • Contribute to statewide sharing of strong screening, intervention, and progress monitoring practices over time.

  13. Exceed alphabet soup • SSO – Single Sign On to the RIDE MAP • TCS – Teacher Course Student data • POC – Point of Contact information from the IMS Deployment Guide. • AOC – Area of Concern is a subset of the domains when looking up goal text • VIG – Visual Instructional Grouping are graphs comparing students’ performance on two measures

  14. Work in Progress

  15. Roles in Exceed User capabilities are determined by role assignment. ROLE = Permission to accomplish certain tasks in Exceed.

  16. EXCEED RTI does NOT • Provide training on RTI process nor serve as a replacement for training • Specify district policy for RTI • Determine special education eligibility • Fulfill eRIDE or other census reporting functions • Replace your Student Information System • Replace team problem-solving to determine appropriate goals and interventions • House IEPs or other special education forms

  17. Questions?

  18. What’s your District RTI Process? Exceed capability District Policy Just because something is possible in Exceed does not mean that it is in line with your district policies and process. Know the district RTI point person and know the district policy.

  19. What guides RTI Processes? Guiding your RTI Process Across the District At the Building Level

  20. RTI ProcessDoes your district… • Allow time in schedules for • teachers to regularly meet • to discuss student data? Have consistent RTI policies across all schools in your district? Have a district level RTI leadership team that drives RTI process in your district? See RTI as a general education initiative supporting special education decisions and processes?

  21. RTI ProcessDoes your district… • Have policies and processes in place that allow students to access the resources and personnel necessary regardless of labels? • Look at data from across all schools within the district to determine trends, patterns and current levels of performance across all subgroups?

  22. RTI ProcessDo your schools… • Have a universal screening • process for reading, math • (3 x per at elementary level) • and/or behavior? Have a problem solving team process in place utilizing teachers, building administrator(s), interventionists, data experts and other related, knowledgeable personnel?

  23. RTI ProcessDo your schools… • Have designated time to meet after universal screening occurs to discuss student data across a grade/department level? • Utilize curriculum based measurement (CBM) for screening and/or progress monitoring (particularly at the elementary level)?

  24. RTI ProcessDo your schools… • Engage in flexible grouping of students to target specific skill deficits? • Have intervention blocks or time within the schedule for students to receive intervention instruction that supplements core instruction? • Progress monitor all students who are at-risk and/or in interventions?

  25. Now what? • Validate SSO log-in and password for RIDEMAP • TCS data complete and accurate • Complete Deployment Guide • Assign Point(s) of Contact • Contact RIDE (Heather Heineke and Bob Measel) for potential training opportunities *Have you already sent someone to train-the-trainer sessions in the spring/summer of 2012?

  26. Deployment Complete the IMS Deployment Guide and think strategically about roll-out.
