  2. Wireless central monitoring of self-contained emergency luminaires • Aalto Control provides wireless central monitoring for self- contained emergency luminaires. • There is no need for cabling from luminaire to luminaire. Installation as in any self-contained luminaire. • Aalto Control preserves all the benefits of self-contained systems. • Eachluminairefunctionsindependently. • Installation is easy. Luminaires can be re-arranged freely e.g. in case of renovating the facilities. • Network is used to gather test results and it has no effect on functionality of a single luminaire. Therefore Aalto Control is as fault tolerant and easy to install as any self-contained system. • Aalto Control luminaires create automatically building wide network, where each luminaire is a node. Network has an optimised routing, automatic re-routing and self-healing. There are two interface options available: computer or a wall mounted unit.

  3. Signal is transmitted from luminaire to luminaire In Aalto Control network each luminaire is a node. Each luminaire doesn’t only send and receive messages, but it also forwards messages belonging to other luminaires. In this aspect network is extended by every exit or emergency luminaire installed. Typical indoor luminaire to luminaire range is at least 40 m. The physical distance from coordinator to the furthest luminaire can be up to 1200 m. The system can have up to 1500 luminaires.

  4. SIGNAL PENETRATES WALLS Signal sent by luminaires penetrates normal walls and doors easily. Concrete walls without openings typically halves the signal range.

  5. SIGNAL CLIMBS FLOORS Signal is sent to upper or lower floors via stairways. Please note, that emergency luminaires installed to stairway send signal forward. Signal is also able to penetrate typical concrete floor structures if luminaire of the next floor is positioned above or below.

  6. EVERYTHING AT A GLANCE Aalto Control software collects data from all luminaires. Software has one logbook which saves all test data from every luminaire. Software has a very user-friendly map which clearly shows what is the status of luminaires at the moment. Adding or moving luminaires is very simple and easy.

  7. Case example: 2 buildings and a tunnel
