By the end of this session you will… 1) Understand the government’s expectations for 2010. 2) Feel more confident teaching a lesson in the target language. 3) Have a bank of resources and lesson ideas. 4) Know how to improve your own language skills. 5) Have access to a specialist language mentor.

  3. Outline Projected started in September 2005 More than 20 schools part of the team. How does it work: • Induction day for new school • Termly meeting network meeting • Dissemination conference • Funds for the schools • Support with delivering the lessons

The government's expectations The National Language Strategy states: "Every child should have the opportunity throughout Key Stage 2 study a foreign language and develop their interest in the culture of other nations. They should have access to high quality teaching and learning opportunities, making use of native speakers and e-learning. By age 11 they should have the opportunity to reach a recognised level of competence on the Common European Framework and for that achievement to be recognised through a national scheme"
