This study examines the effects of modern communication tools, such as texting and social media, on student performance in Southwestern Illinois educational settings. Findings suggest that the use of textspeak influences students' spoken and written language skills, as observed by teachers. The study, conducted through interviews and questionnaires, sheds light on the correlation between communication habits and academic performance in high school and college students. Acknowledgments to Dr. Cory Willmott, teachers, students, and parents for their support.
