The August SharePoint Update introduces crucial enhancements, including search improvements from Search Server, content deployment fixes, and new download options available through the SharePoint team blog. Notably, this update does not include SP1 – ensure SP1 is installed first. Additional issues addressed encompass AAMs breakage and IHttpHandlerFactory flow changes. For SQL Server 2008 integration, the update supports native compression in backups, on-disk database encryption, and better clustering and mirroring capabilities. PowerShell scripting enhancements are also included.
