Citing Sources • In-text Citations • An abbreviated way of documenting your sources within your paper so that the reader sees your source immediately after the quote, paraphrase, or idea. • Work Cited Page • The last page of your paper that fully documents (author, title, publication company , etc.) all the sources you cited in your paper.

  3. Origin and Use American Psychological Association Modern Language Association * Used for the Social Sciences (anthropology, education, political science, psychology) Used for the Humanities (philosophy, history, literature, rhetoric, and communication)

  4. In-text Citations • APA format must include author’s name and year of publication. • Example: “At my school, diagramming was part of our English classes for three years.” (Florey 2006) • MLA format must include author’s name and page number. • Example: “At my school, diagramming was part of our English classes for three years.” (Florey 21)

  5. Work Cited Page: Books APA MLA • Author. (date). Title. Place of Publication: Publisher. • Example: Kitty Burns Florey. (2006). Sister Bernadette’s Barking Dog. New Jersey: Melville House Publishing. • Author. Title. Place of Publication. Publisher, date. • Example: Kitty Burns Florey. Sister Bernadette’s Barking Dog.
