Week of: November 18th – November 22nd News to Know Rowdy Readers TURKEY TROT is on Monday afternoon from 12:45-1:05. This is a great chance to get some fantastic outdoor exercise as a whole grade. Please feel free to come and take pictures as we circle the playground and field. Also, all students should wear gym shoes. The Sharing Feast is on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who is and has volunteered with crafts, food and time. I am still in need of a little bit of help. Please respond via email if you can help out. There is a report card information meeting for parents coming up on December 2nd at 6:00 in the Library. This is a fantastic time to get more information about the upcoming report cards. • This week we continued our focus on vehicles and read a lot of stories that had to do with wheels and their importance. While reading these stories we concentrated on certain standards that had to do with comparison, authors and illustrators, and creating our own short opinion pieces of writing. Some stories that helped us with these standards were: • Duck on a Bike • Big, Big Trucks • The Singing Wagon • 10 Black Dots • We also added the new sight word “on” this week and added the following oral vocabulary words: massive, adventure, attach, wheels and haul. Math Madness Upcoming Dates This week the class did some familiar addition, number recognition and quantity recognition activities, however we did them on iPads. That’s right, the class was introduced to iPads. In math we worked a lot with an app called “Slide 100”. It’s a FREE app, so check it out if you’re able to.
