The Deaf and hard of hearing population in Manitoba • 10% of the population has a hearing loss that affects daily life. • Total # of students with a hearing loss has increased 43% in the past five years (of this there’s a 93% increase in MH D/HH and 23% in D/HH). • Total # of students with a hearing loss who are eligible for special needs funding is around 400 with that number at least double when including students with mild/moderate/unilateral losses.
