  1. Resurrection Events Jesus’ Purpose

  2.  Today’s Bible Verse  • He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6

  3. Palm Sunday • 2000 years ago, a king was visiting their city. People lined the streets of the city hoping to get to see the King. The King came riding on a small donkey, and as he rode through the streets of the city, the people waved palm branches and shouted,

  4. Hosanna • "Hosannato the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!Hosannain the highest heaven!“ • I'm sure that you know who that King was -- it was Jesus. And this is what we call, Palm Sunday.

  5. Jesus is Crucified! • Jesus was arrested, beaten, dragged through the street, and placed on a cross to die…for our sins.

  6. Jesus in the Tomb • On the Sunday morning after Jesus was crucified, two women named Mary went to visit the tomb where Jesus had been buried.  When they arrived, there was a great earthquake and an angel came and rolled away the huge stone that had been covering the entrance to Jesus' tomb.  He sat on the stone and said to the two women,

  7. Where is Jesus? • "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay."  You see, the stone was not rolled away so that Jesus could get out of the grave, it was rolled away so that his followers could go in and see that the tomb was empty.

  8. Jesus is ALIVE!!!!! • He is alive, and because He is alive, we too can have a new life in Him.

  9.  Today’s Bible Verse  • He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6

  10. Today’s Prayer • Dear Lord, today we celebrate the empty grave.  We thank you that Jesus is not in the grave.   He is risen, and because of that, we can have new life in Him.  Amen.

  11. Easter Chant • Hosanna ! Hosanna ! • Hear the people cry. • Riding on a donkey • The King is passing by. • Riding to Jerusalem • Wave those palms and cheer - • Jesus the Messiah • The "promised one" is here.

  12. Crucify ! Crucify ! • Hear the people shout ! • Tell governor Pilate • To bring Jesus out. • Crucify ! Crucify ! • Hear the people  cry - • "He claimed to be our king, • Now he must die !"

  13. "Forgive them ! Forgive them ! • They don't know what they do • I'm willing to die • On this cross for you. • I'm your king, Lord, Messiah. • It is finished ! I cry - • For your sins to be forgiven • God's Son must die "

  14. He's risen ! He's risen ! • See the joy on Mary's face. • She came to the tomb • And now she must race • To tell the disciples - • "We don't need to fear, • Jesus has been raised to life . • He's alive ! He's here ! " ….by: Don Stott, Feb 2002
