  2. Death & Resurrection Physical Death Spiritual Death What is Death? The word “death” means………SEPARATION Separationof the inner, or spiritual, part of a person from their outer, or bodily, part. Separationof a person from God. Eph. 2:1 -- Dead in trespasses and sin. 2 Cor. 5:8 -- Absent from the body is to be present with God. 1 Tim 5:6 -- …dead while she liveth Jam. 2:26 -- The body is dead without the spirit. Rev. 20:5 -- Partakers of the 2nd death are eternally separated from God.

  3. Death & Resurrection What happens at death? 1. Only the body dies. 1 Peter 3:4“the hidden man is incorruptible.” Daniel 12:2“going back to dust” 2. Spiritual part of the saved returns to its Creator. 2 Cor. 5:8“to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 3. Unsaved spirits go into hell where there is tornment. Luke 16:23“In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
