This presentation from the KDIS Partner Support Conference delves into the fundamentals of toner yield and consumption, focusing on the electrostatic properties crucial for toner transfer. It examines the implications of toner waste, contamination, and image quality degradation, emphasizing a proactive approach using Kyocera's T7 parameter. Key factors influencing toner yield, such as document type and coverage, are discussed, alongside practical options for enhancing toner consumption management. Gain insights into optimizing your printing processes based on ISO standards and customer needs.

Objectives -To create understanding of the toner process -To create understanding why it occurs -To provide some ideas what can be done
Toner transfer principles A short / basic explanation. -Toner transfer based on electrostatic properties. -Toner is actuated in the developing unit. -Loss of electrostatic properties due to too much actuation.
To be ahead of problems Kyocera uses a process called T7 parameter. -Loss of electrostatic properties due to too much actuation. -Toner is wasted if actuated for too long a time. -Time is based on developing unit driving time. -Principle the same for every manufacturer. "Team KYOCERA" KDIS Partner Support Conference in NL 15/16 May 2013
Consequences If not done -Toner contamination. -Image quality degradation. -Toner smearing. -Toner comes into contact with PCB’s, roller, etc. -Toner comes into contact with fans.
As conclusion Toner waste if -Consistently printing/copying with low coverage. -Not wasted for every print/copy made with low coverage. -Not wasted if using a balance for low/high coverage. -Every manufacturer needs to deal with this principle
Coverage specifications Kyocera uses 3 ways Printers/MFP based Printers/Smart MFP’s: -ISO/IEC 19798 (Color). -ISO/IEC 19752 (B&W). MFP’s: -Kyocera proprietary. -Will also shift to ISO/IEC norms. -So many customers, so many +1 ways of printing/copying.
Conditions That influence toner yield/consumption -Document type. -Coverage. -Job size. -How often printing/copying -Environment -Perceptually cartridge size
Decrease problems What are the options with our products -Low (color) coverage, start printing (color). -Maintenance mode U147 -Maintenance mode U136 -Change toner at Toner Empty, not Toner Low
