Homework • Roughly 50 minutes of homework assigned each night • Needs to come in with student • Assignment book/online • Consequence for missed homework is to attend HART for 15 minutes of recess where they will complete homework, you will receive an email after 2 assignments missed in a subject area • Missed assignments will affect “completes assignments on time” grade on the report card for that subject area.

  7. Make-Up Work Absences: During a child's absence, requests for make-up schoolwork must be received before 9:30 a.m. for same day requests. All efforts will be made to make this work available to you by 3:30 p.m.. For most 1 day absences, work can be made up in school. Absences due to vacations/trips: Make-up work will be providedafterthechild returns to school. Work assigned after a trip more accurately reflects the assignments and lessons that occurred during the absence.

  9. Language Arts Individual Reading • Reading Calendar Each Night • Try for 25 book challenge • Try new genres

  10. Language Arts Writing • Writer’s Notebook • free choice/prompts/drafts • Pieces • Personal narrative • Persuasive • Poetry • Informal/research report • Letter writing • Reflective pieces

  11. Math • homework daily • math log - vocabulary, formulas, • and example problems • daily practice of new concepts/ applied and practiced in homework • problem solving • grades based on quizzes/tests/participation

  12. Math Help • recess based on individual need • www.pearsonsuccessnet.com • (A guide will come home with password) • After an absence, students are responsible for obtaining/completing any missed lessons or assignments

  14. Social Studies Current Events • Once a marking period • Students pick article and fill out report form • Present to the class • Practice as a group first

  16. Organization • Emphasis on teaching responsibility and organization skills • Keeping a neat binder • Binder quizzes • Homework Book (to sign or not to sign) • Leaving D-11 for activities • Switching classes starts second marking period

  17. Birthdays Treats – One day notice, please do not bring late in the day 30 Students Food Allergies – nut free Non-edible items like pencils and erasers are greatly appreciated!
