  1. Skit: “Dating: Be Good” (Live Magazine)

  2. When you want to ask someone for advice… Who do you usually prefer to ask? Why? What kinds of things do you ask for advice about? Will you go to different people to ask about different things? If you have brothers or sisters, do you ever ask them for advice, or discuss your problems with them?

  3. (Part One) Jeff: Ann, I’m taking my classmate Wendy out on a date tomorrow, but I don’t know how to act. Ann: Don’t act, be yourself. Jeff: Oh. Well, I don’t know what to talk about. Ann: Find something you’re both interested in. And then just relax and be yourself. Jeff: Alright. But should I wear really cool clothes. Ann: No. To impress her, wear clean, formal clothes. Look nice, not strange. Do you think this is good advice? If yes, which parts? If not, what do you think is wrong with it?

  4. (Part Two) Jeff: Where should I take her? To a disco? Ann: No. Take her to a nice restaurant, and then take her somewhere fun, like a bowling alley, or a church party. Jeff: What else should I do? Ann: Pick her up at her house, meet her parents, bring her a box of candy…maybe some roses. Jeff: If dating is like this, I would rather stay home and do housework! Do you think this is good advice? If yes, which parts? If not, what do you think is wrong with it?

  5. Do you think a conversation like this could happen in your family? Why or why not? How might it be different if it happened to you? What if Jeff had asked his older brother? How might the conversation have been different?
