  2. Travel Defined • Traveling on behalf of DePaul is defined as your organization is traveling on university business with university funds. • DePaul Business: • Event • Conference • Meeting • Etc. • DePaul Funds: • SAF-B Funding • On Campus account funds • Departmental funds

  3. Driving Rentals • DePaul University DOES NOT rent out DePaul Vehicles. Driving Qualification • All drivers who will be driving students in personal/ rental vehicles for university business must meet the following qualifications: • Have a valid state issued driver’s license. • Have no more than two at-fault accidents/violations within the last two years . • Have no DUI or DWI conviction within the last three years. • Be at least 21 years old. Drivers who are 18-20 years old may, under certain circumstances and subject to discretion of the Office of Risk Management and Environmental Health & Safety, be allowed to drive for local travel. • Drivers Certification

Driver Certification • The Driver Certification process is initiated by filling out a “Motor Vehicle Form” available on the Office of Risk Management and Environmental Health & Safety website: http://rmehs.depaul.edu • It Includes: • Checking of the Driver’s driving record • On-line driver training program. • Drivers will be notified within 4-5 business days if they successfully completed the Driver Certification process. • There is a fee that depends on where your license is from. Please ask the Office of Student Life for the list if you plan on asking for SAF-B funding to pay for it.

  6. Local Travel • Local Travel is the following Counties: • Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will • For Local Travel, you must have : • Driver Certification. • No travel waiver required (but heavily recommended). • Link for local travel: • https://generalcounsel.depaul.edu/Contribution%20Folder/Forms/GRF-Local.pdf. • Turn forms into Office of Student Life prior to departure. • A form for each student must be filled out.

Non-Local Travel • Non-Local Travel is anywhere out of the six surrounding Chicago Counties. • Non-Local Travel, you must have: • Driver Certification. • Must have travel waiver. • Link for Non-Local travel waiver • https://generalcounsel.depaul.edu/Contribution%20Folder/Forms/GRF-NonLocal.pdf. • Turn forms into Office of Student Life prior to departure. • A form for each student must be filled out.

Travel with SAF-B $ • If you ask for travel funds from SAF-B (up to $2000 for the year), you must have at least two quotes from different airlines. • If you receive SAF-B funds to travel by flight: • Come into the Office of Student Life and meet with Carrie to purchase airline tickets. • If you receive SAF-B funds to travel by car: • Come into the Office of Student Life and fill out a reimbursement for mileage with a printed MapQuest. • You will be reimbursed .55 cents per mile. • Only reimbursed as much as was allocated for mileage.

  10. Traveling, but not using DePaul funds • If you are a student organization, but not traveling with DePaul funds, then the participants do not need to: • Fill out a travel waiver. • Take the Drivers Certification.
