  3. CALICE Electromagnetic Calorimeter Prototype with ~10,000 channels being assembled Tests with partially equipped prototype at DESY in 2005 Module expected to be completed by Spring’06 First tests at DESY in summer then CERN in fall Detailed tests at FNAL after November 2006 Precision measurement of EM/HAD showers Experience with Silicon calorimetry SOB Electromagnetic Calorimeter First Tungsten plates in hand First 6” wafers in hand Readout ASIC with 64 channels being prototyped Ultimately 1024 channels/ASIC First tests at SLAC in 2007 (?) Detailed tests at FNAL in 2008 (?) Finer granularity (x4) than CALICE ECAL Experience with ASIC

  4. CALICE Analog Hadron Calorimeter Using scintillator as active medium Prototype with ~8,000 channels being assembled Tests of individual layers at DESY in 2005 Module expected to be completed by July’06 Commissioning and first tests at CERN in fall’06 Detailed tests at FNAL after November 2006 Precision measurements of HAD showers Experience with SiPMs, calibration… CALICE Digital Hadron Calorimeter Using RPCs/GEMs as active medium Prototype with ~400,000 channels planned Tests of individual layers at FNAL in early’06 Electronic readout system almost completely designed Funding of construction not guaranteed Detailed tests at FNAL starting 2007 Precision measurements of HAD showers Experience with digital calorimetry, RPCs, GEMs

  5. Tail Catcher/Muon Tracker Using scintillator strips as active medium Prototype with ~300 channels being assembled Tests of individual layer and readout at DESY in 2005 Further tests at FNAL in early 2006 Detailed measurements at FNAL after November 2006 Precision measurement of tail of showers Experience with SiPMs, calibration… Summary of plans for FNAL Individual tests (TCMT and RPCs) in early 2006 CALICE ECAL, AHCAL and TCMT starting at the earliest in 11/2006 CALICE ECAL, DHCAL and TCMT starting at the earliest in 2007 SOB ECAL and CALICE HCALs starting at the earliest in 2008 (?)

  6. Requests for improvements to the MTBF Beam Line Hadrons (pions) down to 1 – 3 GeV/c Duty cycle of at least 10% with several spills/minute Electrons at higher momenta (> 20 GeV/c) Essential Highly desirable Good to have
