Course Structure - Year 3 • Two compulsory classes • Placement and Professional Development • Research Methods for Professions • Three optional classes • Advanced Topics in Physical Activity • Nutrition for Health and Exercise • Research Project • Sports Practice 3 • Elective class or a fourth optional class

Course Structure - Year 4 • Two compulsory classes • Dissertation • Dissertation Research Skills • Three optional classes • Physical Activity with Special Populations • Physical Education in Schools • Practical Project in Physical Activity and Sport Development • Elective or a fourth optional class if not taken inyear 3

Study Abroad • Spend up to one year of your degree studying at a partner university • East Carolina University, USA • University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA • University of Victoria, Canada • University of Otago, New Zealand • Spend a full year or a semester abroad • Normally in the third year of study

  9. Entry Requirements • SQA Highers / Irish Leaving Certificate • ABBB at first sitting • AABB or BBBBB at two sittings • Compulsory Subjects • English (grade B) • Maths or a Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) (grade B)

  10. Advanced Highers • An Advanced Higher and a Higher are given equal credit and the grades for each qualification count towards the total grades required.

  11. Entry Requirements • HNC B in Graded Unit • HND B in all Graded Units • Plus compulsory English qualification • SQA Higher English (grade B) • Higher Communication (EE3T) and Literature 1 (E9X8) • Second year entry may be possible witha relevant HND • Relevant HNC / HND courses include: • Health, Fitness and Exercise • Sports Development and Coaching

  13. Admissions • Entry to the course is very competitive • Currently 50 places per year • About 800 applications per year • Application made via UCAS • Course Code CX63

  14. Personal Statement • UCAS personal statement should reflect: • Strong evidence of a commitment to sport or physical activity, for example through coaching or volunteering • Enthusiasm for working with others • Relevant experience • Intentions following achievement of your degree
