  1. Adsorption of L-cysteine and co-adsorption of • L-cysteine and Au on a rutile TiO2(110) surface Evren Ataman, Cristina Isvoranu, Jesper Andersen, Joachim Schnadt

  2. Motivations Interaction of metal oxide surfaces with biological molecules is interesting from both a fundamental point of view and technological applications. Cysteine might be a candidate to stabilize the gold cluster to keep high the efficiency of catalysis of oxidation.

  3. Cysteine is an amino acid which is the only one has a thiol group. Sulfur strongly interacts with gold.

  4. RUTILE TiO2(110) Defects: Missing Bridging O atoms (5-10%) Missing Ti atoms (rare)

  5. A. Kiejna, T. Pabisiak S. W. Gao J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 18 (2006) 4207-4217

  6. Core Level X-Ray Photoelectron Spectra

  7. TiO2-cysteine-gold vs. TiO2-gold-cysteine

  8. More Gold Deposition On Cysteine Deposited Surface Increasing Gold Coverage

  9. CONCLUSIONS -We propose a model for interaction of cysteine with TiO2 surface. -We investigated TiO2 / Gold / Cysteine structure (work on adsorption of CO in progress). -Supporting experimental work and theoretical calculation are required for a detailed model of structure.

  10. Acknowledgments Jesper Andersen Joachim Schnadt Cristina Isvoranu
