  2. The Matched Multiple Birth File • Allows for research of characteristics of SETS of multiple gestation pregnancies • Includes ALL records reported in twin, triplet and quadruplet deliveries from 1995-2000 NCHS birth, fetal death and linked birth/infant death files

  3. The NEWMatched Multiple Birth File • 325,516 SETS of twins • 12,157 SETS triplets • 760 SETS of quadruplets OR > 699,000 individual records

  4. Definition: multiple delivery A multiple delivery or multiple gestation pregnancy may include any combination of live births and fetal deaths; all products of the pregnancy which are DELIVEREDat any point in the pregnancy are counted.

  5. Example: 1 fetal death (≥ 20 wks) + 2 live births = 1 triplet pregnancy or triplet SET
