  2. The Ranch + The Ranch Style house is most commonly found as a residential building, usually built on one level, having a low roof and a rectangular open floor plan. Very common elegant ranch houses can be found in the south, as they are cheep to cool in the summer. Uses American designs, along with a bit of Greek revival.

  3. + The Colonial 2nd Floor The New England colonial home is usually a double story house with a door in the direct middle of the house. Usually white or unpainted brick. It has square symmetrical windows and a chimney, historically put in the middle of the house to reduce the cost of heating the home. 1st Floor

  4. Victorian 1st floor The Victorian house usually has a steep pitched roof, with many gables, and at least one turret or tower on the corner of the house. It is usually seen with two floors, and lots of rectangular glass windows, and an oval glass window on the door. During the time of their original creation, “gingerbread” styles of ornamental decorating influenced the trim railings of the houses natural characteristics. 2nd floor

  5. The Bungalow / Craftsman The bungalow house is usually a low profile house, with 1-1.5 floor house with many horizontal lines and windows. It blends into its surroundings and uses them to complement its overhangs and front yard. The bungalow house what made as a cheep easy to build house. One could be bought for as little as $900.00. But the look of the bungalow house never took off.

  6. 1st Floor The Greek Revival The Greek revival style house was captured in our government buildings to celebrate the democratic ways of the Greek culture thousands of years ago. We look back on their culture by using tall pillars and temple style roofing styles. Rectangular pillars and triangular peeked low sloping roofs are key concepts that help the viewer capture the essence of the Greek Revival house. 2nd Floor

  7. The Cape The Cape house is most commonly 1-1.5 floors with gabled windows facing the front of the house. More commonly than not it doesn't have a garage, but at some times it may. The Cape has dark shingling, and wooden siding also in the form of shingles, usually left as the natural wood color, or white. The Cape house uses symmetry to make the home feel welcoming and well balanced. 2nd Floor 1st Floor

  8. The Contemporary or International Style The Contemporary house was built with the resident in mind. It usually has an open floor plan, front facing gables, and a semi- steep roof. Two stories, with large open windows in the living room face the houses outdoor idol, whether it be a lake, mountain, or garden in the back yard. It was built with mass produced furnishings and quick easy o build decks. Very easy to build and cheep as well. These homes can be found anywhere in the world because they come and go with International trends. 1st Floor 2nd Floor

  9. The Split- Level The Split- Level house usually is based on European designs and ideas. The front door opens into a small furrier with a half flight of stairs going up to the main level of the house and another going to the lower level of the house. The main level usually has the master bed room and the kitchen. Where as the lower level has the family room and other bed rooms. Split level homes usually are 2-3.5 stories. Main Level Lower Level
