Stage Presence The Stage Is Your Home… It’s your stage, own it! • Cover the stage. • Use the entire stage to your advantage. • Move around. • Study professional performers • Learn when NOT to grab attention • When working with others, share the light. • When someone else is speaking, step back. • Don’t try to out-sing the other caller.

  4. Stage Presence The Stage Is Your Home… It’s your stage, own it! • Sing to Someone. • Focus on a person you’re comfortable with. • Take requests. • Make the people in the back feel upfront. • Keep the energy up. • Smile. When you do, so do they.

  5. Audience Interaction They’re there for your benefit. USE THEM! Sing Alongs After parties • Use well known song people can sing along to. • Make a playlist • Encourage them • Use volume • Use skits that involve audience members • Know your crowd • Get new ideas • Research

  6. Dress for Success What Not To Wear… • We set an example. • People dress the way they see their leaders • Wear nice clothes • Clean Cut/Shaven. • Haircuts and razors are cheap! USE THEM! • Smells matter. • Use deodorant • Take a shower • BRUSH YOUR TEETH!

  7. Singing Ability Fact: Everyone can use help singing • Know your vocal ability • Practice your songs • Learn the lyrics • Sing Alongs • Talk the words • Vocal Training

  8. Choreographic Ability Easy to Medium to Hard… What should you use? • Wind in the face dancing… Good flowing choreo… Most dancers love this style. However… • Every now and then, you need a little meat to your choreography to keep everyone, including the high level dancers, happy. • Sometimes, there is a situation that calls for DBD, APD, hot hash, take no prisoners, and many others. KNOW WHEN IT IS APPROPRIATE!!! • Easy • Medium • Hard

  9. Programming a dance Plan ahead for a successful dance Be PREPARED for anything Announcements mid-dance Themed dance Favorite Songs of Dancers Bad MP3 file Requests Have a playlist set up Have your songs separated Slow, Mid, Fast Sing alongs Patriotic Etc.

  10. Conclusion Showmanship can make you or break you Definition: Showmanship - n. -the ability to present something (especially theatrical shows) in an attractive manner. Final Thoughts: Know your audience. Have multiple options to choose from so they can have the best time possible.
