  1. Guess todays new topic!

  2. Todays Focus: What are the non-religious beliefs in Life After Death? • Grade C • ALL will be able to identify what death is and explain arguments for life after death. • Grade B • MOST will be able to give examples of life after death from a non-religious view. • Grade A/A* • SOME will be able to explain in detail their views on life after death, using evidence from the lesson.

  3. How do we define death? How do we know that someone is dead?

  4. If you stop breathing, you’re dead? Actually, no! Death was once defined as the end of a heart beat or breathing but through CPR we can reverse death (because, in some cases, breathing and heartbeat can be restarted). So – you’re not actually dead just because your heart has stopped and you’re not breathing!

  5. Clinically dead. Today, we say a person is dead when there is brain death. An absence of brain activity (electrical impulses) is not enough (because people in comas aren’t technically dead). It has to be that the brain cannot be brought back to normal.

  6. Fill in your Life After Death sheet. You must give reasons for your choices! What will be your own example? Doppelgänger

  7. Feedback Grade C ALL will be able to identify what death is and explain arguments for life after death. Grade B MOST will be able to give examples of life after death from a non-religious view. What do we need to do now?

  8. Definition. • In 20 words create a definition for ‘Near death experience’. • Where a person becomes ‘outside’ of their body, is pronounced dead but comes back to life and shares their experience. Leave a space to stick your grid in!

  9. What is a medium? A MEDIUM provides evidence of survival of the human personality beyond the physical state we call death. S/he is the link between the two worlds communicating with people who have died through mind-to-mind contact. Do you think mediums are real? If not why not?
