How is AP different than dual enrollment? Advanced Placement Dual Enrollment College course in a college setting Most courses meet 2 or 3 times a week; some courses require a lab Credit depends on student’s success in meeting course requirements outlined in the course syllabus Need to investigate how course will transfer to desired college Must meet college’s entrance requirements • College course in a high school setting • Usually more rigorous than dual enrollment • Student must demonstrate deep understanding of content to earn credit • Recognized internationally • Research studies support that AP best prepares students for success in college studies

2014-15 AP Offerings • AP Human Geography (9th only) • Pre-AP/AP Biology (≥ 10th) • AP Government (≥ 10th) • Pre-AP/AP US History (≥ 11th) • Pre-AP/AP Chemistry (≥ 11th) • Pre-AP/AP Eng Lang/Comp (≥ 11th) • AP Eng Lit/Comp (12th) • Pre-AP/AP Calculus AB (12th) • AP Calc AB/AP Calc BC (12th) • AP Macroeconomics (12th) • AP Environmental Science (12th) • AP Studio Art (≥ 11th) • Drawing • 2D Design • 3D Design • AP Spanish Language Final offerings are dependent on the number of students who register for each class.

Foreign Languages Additional languages (Latin, German, etc) are available through GA Virtual School. Dual Enrollment provides additional options.
Applications • Already enrolled in an Honors or AP course – application not needed for that content area (exception AP Biology and AP Government) if achieved an average of 80 or above • Enrolled in a standard or advanced course – complete an application by Friday, February 14. • Applications should be submitted to the teacher of the course (HCHS); NGA students should turn in applications to the Honors teacher of that content area.
