Author • F Scott Fitzgerald • Born in St. paul, Minnesota in 1896 • The Great Gatsby is his 3rd book • Not a great student • Attended Princeton University (1913) • Never graduated, enlisted in US Army in 1917 (End of WWI) • Met first wife (Zelda Sayre) while stationed in Montgomery, Alabama • Published his first novel and married Zelda Sayre in 1920 • She delayed their wedding until he proved successful • Lived in NY, Paris, and the Riviera • Died of a heart attack in 1940 (age 44) • Led a life much like Gatsby’s
