  2. 1. Find a quiet place.

  3. 2. Set the timer for 10 minute increments. After you have “studied” for 10 minutes, take a 5 minute break to rest your mind and then set the timer again to do another 10 minutes.

  4. 3. Get your materials out. • Only what you need. • Pencil

  5. What do I study? • The pages of the VA Studies notebook covering the topic that the quiz or test will be over.

  6. Review by looking back. • Look for key words, ideas, maps, and pictures.

  7. Ask yourself: What was this about? • Remember the main things about what Miss O. taught us.

  8. Highlight while looking back. • DON’T HIGHLIGHT EVERYTHING. • Only highlight the key words.

  9. Cover up the labels on maps.

  10. Cover up parts of the notes for recall.

  11. Say it aloud.

  12. Write it again. • On note cards or notebook paper. • Draw a picture nearby to remind you of the idea.

  13. Teach it to an imaginary class.

  14. Make a song or rap out of it.

  15. Find mnemonic devices or hand motions to help you. • Funky ways to remember order or a long name like: My Wacky Kids Talk Non-stop

  16. Make flashcards. • Question on one side • Answer on the other side

  17. Use Miss O.’s foldables, games, etc. to help you!

  18. Quiz yourself with a folded paper activity.

  19. Create your own quiz or make a question game.

  20. Quiz with a friend. • Or parent! =)
