Registration Timeline • February 1st – Course recommendations available for viewing through Home Access Center • February 1st –March 3rd – Online registration through HAC • If you want to make a change to a LOCKED course, you must submit a course change request form by March 3rd: http://www.scasd.org/courserequests • March 7th - Course selections mailed home • March 31st – Last chance to change course selections with a signed permission form • August 1st at 8:00 am – Schedules available online with a 10 day window to make schedule changes (schedule change requests close on August 11th) • Schedule changes are limited once school begins

  4. What courses will be pre-loaded and locked? • You will need parent permission to change the following recommendations: • English • Science • Social Studies • Math • World Language • PE • Wellness *You must schedule at least 6 credits and no more than 8 credits

  5. ENGLISH OPTIONS: • AP English Language & Composition • Advanced English 11 • CP English 11 • English 11 English and Social Studies • SOCIAL STUDIES OPTIONS: • AP US History • CP US History • US History • New course: AP Human Geography • Please note: US History is a grad requirement

  6. Math Options: • Advanced Algebra 2 • CP Algebra 2 • Algebra 2 (Not NCAA approved) • Advanced Honors Precalculus • Advanced Precalculus • Precalculus • Functions & Trigonometry • Some of you will be in other math levels

  7. Science Options: • Integrated Chemistry and Physics • Chemistry 1 • Adv. Chemistry 1 (1.5 credits) * • Environmental Science • Environmental Science 1 • Anatomy and Physiology • Research Science and Engineering (Independent study) * This course will schedule one block for one semester and 2 blocks the other semester

Science Continued • Physics 1 • AP Physics 1+ (1.5 credits) * • AP Physics C Mechanics; Electromagnetism (1.5 credits) * • Advanced Physics/Advanced Engineering Tech (2.0 credits) ** *This course will schedule one block for one semester and 2 blocks the other semester ** This course will meet 2 full blocks all year Semester Courses (.50 credit each) • Advanced Geology FALL • Advanced Oceanography SPRING • Advanced Molecular and Cellular Biology FALL • Advanced Genetics SPRING

Where is the Course Selection Guide? **As 10th graders you will not receive a Course Selection Guide** You may access the Course Selection Guide online There will be links on the State College School District Homepage and on HAC http://www.scasd.org/courserequests Feel free to stop in the Counseling Center and use one of our copies. Stand Together State High

  13. Community Service • You will need to complete 20 hours of community service by May 1 of your senior year. • Make sure you fill out a form each time you complete hours. Turn completed forms into Counseling. • Forms can be found in LE, Counseling Offices and online. • For more information on opportunities see Community Service on the Counseling website.

  14. Graduation Project (GP) Many of you will complete this in your 11th or 12th grade English class. Two Ways to Register for a Graduation Project: 1. Enroll in a project course and do a project. GP courses are identified with a cap and diploma in the course selection guide. 2. Make independent arrangements with a teacher/counselor to do a Graduation Project.

  15. Transcript Check You have received a copy of your transcript. The grades listed are your cumulative grades from marking periods 1 and 2. This transcript is a very important document It is the single most critical data point considered for college acceptance Make sure that all of your courses are listed and that the grades are correct. If you think there is an error please make corrections and hand it back to your counselor.

  16. How to Select Courses • Go to the District Home Page, select “For Students“ and then “Home Access Center” • Log in using your State High Credentials • Select “High School Course Request Directions” for directions • Select “Classes” and then “Request” tab to enter course requests. • To change “locked” courses, fill out Course Request Change Form and return to counseling office by March 3rd • To add a Virtual Course – You will need to go to the SCASD Virtual School website. You will select flex courses underneath the academics tab. You will register online. Once we receive notification you are enrolled, we will remove the course from your schedule.
