Coastal Hazards WorkshopMay 30-31st, 2012 • Evaluate existing coastal models linking nearshore and terrestrial components • Collect vertical datum with tidal benchmarks • Utilize community observations for storm surge, tide height and general ice observations • Establish coastal “Sentinel Sites”

Evaluate (Improve) existing coastal models linking nearshore and terrestrial components • Coarse scale - NOAA and University of Notre Dame (Robert Grumbine) • Fine scale - University of Alaska Anchorage (Tom Ravens) • Conceptual (HajoEiken/David Atkinson) • ShoreZone Kotzebue, Bristol Bay, AK Peninsula (Cindy Hartmann-Moore)

  5. Collect vertical datum with tidal benchmarks • Benchmark sites recalibrated – Nicole Kinsman • Additional Buoy data – Molly McCammon

  6. Utilize community observations for storm surge, tide height and general ice observations • LEO Webinars – Michael Brubaker • Training webinars by several Pis • Community cameras • Local Community Visits regarding ice berm formation – HajoEiken

  7. Establish coastal “Sentinel Sites” • No activity at this time

  8. FY2014 Activities • Coastal Projects Synthesis – Sarah Trainor @ ACCAP • Outreach Document • Document what coastal change activities are occurring now • Publically available • Assist LCC staff in determining progress when we refocus on Coastal Systems in 2017
