  1. Parts of the library Why are they here? Why do we need them? How are they used?

  2. Circulation desk (4) • Where you go to check in, check out, or renew a library book.

  3. Printer station (10) • Where you go to pick up any printed work in black and white or color.

  4. Computer stations (3) • Where you go to complete assignments, do research, or look up a book. Be sure to use your user name and password.

  5. Fiction section (2) • Where you go to find “made up” books that are shelved in ABC order using the author’s last name

  6. Non – fiction section (6) • Where you would find factual and informational books that are shelved by their subject using the Dewey Decimal System.

  7. Reference section (1) • Where you find books to be used for research such as almanacs, atlases, and encyclopedias.

  8. Atlas stand (7) • Where you can go to look at atlases that show maps of our world, our country and our region.

  9. TEXTBOOKS (8) • Where you can find textbooks to use during study hall

  10. Card catalog (9) • Where you USED TO look up a book location before computers, but is now used to display new library books.

  11. Magazine shelves (5) • Where you can sit and read a variety of magazines ranging from Sports Illustrated to Time to Zoo Books.

  12. Things to bring to media center • Media Folder • Agenda Pad • Pen or Pencils • Library book(s)

  13. Fine for a regular book • 5 cents per day

  14. Fine for a reference book • 5 cents per period (40 cents per day)

  15. Media center • The media center is named after Lucia A. Drake

  16. Lucia liked to study…… • Egyptology

  17. Non fiction books • Shelved by subject matter using the Dewey Decimal System

  18. Fiction books • Shelved in ABC order using the author’s last name

  19. Take out regular books • Check out a book for 2 weeks….renew it twice for a total of 6 weeks

  20. Take out reference book • Check out a reference book OVER NIGHT ONLY !!!
