Ready-Study-Go 2005-2007 • is a Leonardo da Vinci language project • develops e-learning packages for language and cultural training before an on-the-job learning period • is coordinated by Omnia – Vocational Institution in the Espoo Region in Finland • has six educational partners in six countries, one monitoring partner and two company partners
Objectives of the project • to improve the cross-cultural skills of the people involved in vocational education • cooperation between working life and educational institutions: integration of pedagogy and company culture • development of language teaching integrated in a vocational content
Target groups • students • language teachers, trainers, coordinators, vocational teachers and other specialists • material is intended to be used by 1. vocational students preparing themselves for on-the-job learning period 2. on-the-job learning coaches 3. companies which have international employees • material is developed for the hotel, restaurant, tourism and bakery sectors
Online material • is developed by teams of vocational and language teachers • consists of different types of exercises combining professional and general vocabulary with cultural coaching and information on the work culture • consists of 40 hours of general language training and 80 hours of sector-specific language and culture training
Type of exercise • video clips (interviews and descriptions of work places) • general cultural clips • animations • audio materials (dialogues, interviews, help for pronunciation etc.) • chat exercises, discussion forums, coffee corners, role plays (getting to know each other or target country etc.) • hot Potatoes –based exercises with readymade questions and answers (quizzes, drag and drop, open questions, multiple choice)
Different learning styles considered • consisting of different learning, writing, pronunciation and listening exercises • including general socialising section as well as other culture-related language practices • taking into consideration different learners as well as different level of learners
Languages The language and cultural trainingmaterial package is produced in: • Estonian • Finnish • French • German • Italian • English as a support language
