  1. Powerful Combinations James 2:14-19 Page 1173 2 Peter 1:3-9 Page 1180

  2. THE POINT!!! • Some combinations are powerful!! • 4 Examples Starting With Two Demonstrations.

  3. Questions: • What are the two items? • How do they react when they are apart? • What happens when they are combined?

  4. Questions: • What does God want us to have in combination? • Why do we need to combine faith and works? • What happens when they are combined? • What happens if they are not combined?

  5. James 2:14-19 Page 1173 • JAS 2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? • 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? • 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

  6. James 2:14-19 Page 1173 • JAS 2:18 But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. • 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder. • Then James reminds us about Abraham and Rahab and their active faith.

  7. 2 Peter 1:3-9 Page 1180 • 2PE 1:3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them (1) you may participate in the divine nature and (2) escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

  8. 2 Peter 1:3-9 Page 1180 • 2PE 1:5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith • goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. • 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. • 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

  9. How Powerful Is Your Combination? • What does your faith look like? • If people only watched your life what would they say about your faith? • How do you use your hands? • Who have you helped lately? • Where have you volunteered? • Who’s life have you touched? • How have you used your blessings? • How do you share your knowledge of God?

  10. A Dynamic Combination! • Do you have a baking soda and vinegar faith or faith that is a little more like this???
