The imperfect is used: • To tell about habitual actions from the past, things you used to do • To tell about on-going actions in the past – was/were –ing • To tell about something that was happening for an extended, but non-specific amount of time • To give background information when telling a story
. To form the imperfect, take off the ending (-ar, -er or –ir) and add: • -arverbs-er and –ir verbs • -aba -ábamos -ía -íamos • -abas-abais-ías -íais • -aba -aban-ía -ían
There are only three irregular verbs in the imperfect!!! • Ir = to go ser = to bever= to see • Iba íbamos era éramosveíaveíamos • Ibas i bais eras eraisveíasveíais • Iba iban era eranveíaveían
