  2. Speakers • M-Audio BX5 A • Used primarily as a reference monitor for a recording studio. • This particular model would be a common choice for a ‘home recording studio.’

  3. Speakers – continued • JBL JRX 110 • This is a live sound ‘monitor.’ • Musicians on stage will have these speakers in front of them facing ‘up’ so that they can hear themselves. • Most often these are used to hear vocals

  4. Speakers - continued • Sony Tower Speakers • Your typical stereo speaker for the home. • Recording Artists, Sound Engineers, would have similar speakers to hear their ‘compressed’ creations through regular speakers.

  5. Interfaces • M-Audio – Fast Track USB • Basic Interface – 1 x XLR, 1 x ¼ inch inputs • Used with Recording Software – Protools M Powered • Connected by a USB cable

  6. Interfaces Continued • Digidesign 003 • Home Recording with professional results • Bundled with Protools LE – a significant upgrade from Protools M Powered. • Super Fast Firewire connection

  7. Microphones Apex 460 – Tube Condenser Microphone • Multi pattern microphone most commonly used as a room mic, or specifically used for isolate vocals • Held by a ‘shock mount’ to help reduce sympathetic sound and vibration.

  8. Microphones • AKG D5 – vocal microphone • Shure SM57 – instrument microphone • Is good at canceling out background noise • Shure SM 58 – Most commonly used as a vocal Microphone. • ***Famous band Rush rely on sm57’s and sm58s during concerts.

  9. Cables • XLR – 3 pin microphone cable • Y Cable – 1/8th inch with balanced RCA • Speakon – connects loud speakers to amplifiers

  10. Stands • Boom Stand • Allows for more accurate placement of microphones • Round Base • Your standard microphone stand • Not as versatile as the boom stand

  11. P. A Components • DBX Drive Rack P.A • System processor • Built in feedback suppressors
