Advanced Background Subtraction and Spectrophotometry Tools for Crowded Field Analysis

This project aims to develop software tools for accurate background subtraction and spectrophotometry of point sources in crowded fields. Key tasks include the collection of test data, testing of point spread functions (PSFs), and evaluation of observational strategies. Collaboration between teams from AIP, ESO, MIL, and CAM will facilitate data analysis and software distribution. Milestones include initial observations and data workshops, leading to the final software release targeted for Q4 2005. This research is integral to understanding stellar populations, high-redshift galaxies, and gravitational lensing.
